A wide open Preferred 2 Pace will headline the first Tuesday evening program of the season on June 6 at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway. Customers who wager $20 or more on track will receive a 20 per cent discount card for the West End Bar & Grill throughout the Tuesday race cards with the Bounce Back Promotion.

The card starts at 6 p.m. at the western oval with the $3,600 Preferred 2 Pace lining up in race nine.

Mantario has drawn the pylon post and gets the respect of Race Secretary Gerard Smith as the morning line favourite with David Dowling in the race bike for trainer Jennifer Doyle, who co-owns the Sportswriter seven-year-old with Danny Birt of Earnscliffe, P.E.I. Mantario was a 10-time winner in 2022 and has already made a trip to the winner’s circle this season with a 1:55.3 score over Charlottetown in line to Dowling.

Mr Rielly is second choice from post three for trainer-driver Corey MacPherson after pacing in 1:53.3 in his last start while finishing fourth and beating Mantario. The five-year-old pacer hails from the lone crop of Steelhead Hanover.

Soccer Hanover was the winner at this level on the Victoria Day opening program at Red Shores Summerside and keeps Jason Hughes in the seat from the Leith Waite barn with post five.

Moonwriter has post two for driver Ken Murphy and trainer Colin Johnson with Sauble Attack on the outside with post six for driver Adam Merner and trainer Paul Biggar.

The "Backstretch Beat" will go in a different direction, taking former Gold Cup and Saucer finalist Woodmere Ideal as the top choice from post four for driver Dale Spence and trainer Sifroi Melanson:  “Woodmere Ideal Art will need some trip luck to make this happen but we really liked the way he raced in his debut on the opening card of Red Shores Summerside finishing third. This horse will be tighter after that race and Spence gets the call to make it all happen.”

The back-up class lines up in race six with Kataparka placed on top from post two for driver Merner, trainer Melissa Rennie and owners Jeremy Hoffman, Lynn Livingstone, Jeffrey Campbell and Kevin Teasdale. The Well Said pacer rides into the event with three straight second-place finishes. His top foes include Dylan Sam (to be driven by Murphy) and Coasttocoastshark (Devon Wallace).
