Nezblanc made the decisive move past the half and held off a pair of challengers late to capture Wednesday’s (June 2) co-feature at The Meadows, a $10,100 Conditioned Trot.
Nezblanc took the early lead but was shuffled to third before Tony Hall tipped him off the cones and asked him for trot. The four-year-old Donato Hanover-Chilitodayhotamale gelding withstood the "Lightning Lane" charge of Walkingintherain to down him by a half length in a career-best 1:54.1. Just Like Magic completed the ticket.
Aaron Johnston trains Nezblanc for Richard Hess.
In Wednesday’s other co-feature, a $10,100 Filly & Mare Conditioned Pace, Windsun Juno rolled to a commanding win for Dave Palone, trainer Ron Burke and owners Burke Racing Stable and Weaver Bruscemi LLC. The five-year-old daughter of Sunfire Blue Chip-Artistic Melody scored in 1:52.3.
Palone piloted four winners on the 13-race card, including a pair each for Burke and trainer Michael Hitchcock.
Live racing at The Meadows continues Thursday (June 3) when the 13-race program features a $1,534.56 carryover in the final-race Super Hi-5. First-race post is 12:45 p.m. (EDT).
