Pang Shui, with Jason Hughes in the bike, won the $2,300 Preferred Pace in 1:57.2 on Saturday at Red Shores Racetrack & Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

"Welcome to Charlottetown," boomed track announcer Vance Cameron as Pang Shui streaked under the wire to win his Prince Edward Island debut defeating Mcapulco (Brodie MacPhee) and R Sonolife (Kenny Arsenault), who rallied for third.

The five-year-old son of No Pan Intended was the talk of the town after his 1:56 qualifying mile at Summerside last week. Trainer Blaine McKenna had him in top form again as Hughes sent him through fractions of :29, :59 and 1:28.1 for the Saturday score. The track was rated as 'good' with a two second variant due to rain earlier in the program.

Pang Shui is owned by Bill Andrew of Calgary, Alta., Brian Andrew of Milton Station, P.E.I, Gary Arsenault of Miscouche, P.E.I., and Blake Andrew of Montreal, Que.

Marc Campbell had a big night on card with four winners. The O'Brien Award champ scored with Windemere Ron and Windemere Express from the Earl Watts stable. Kevin MacLean trainee Astronomical Union and Painted Pony, trained by Raymond White, helped expand Campbell's lead in the driver's standings.

White recorded a training double when Brodie MacPhee rallied Roscoes Child in deep stretch to beat Chasin Racin at the line for the Selkirk Stable of Belfast, P.E.I.

The Andrew family also teamed up with trainer Ron Gass and driver Corey MacPherson for two more winners. Buckling Banbury won the $1,800 Open Trot class while Evalina chased down the field to take top honours in her race.
