Outlawguns N Roses improved off her winning performance in last week's $16,000 Fillies and Mares Preferred Pace at Century Downs with another win in the Wednesday, June 18 evening edition using a gate-to-wire trip to a final time a second faster than the previous week.
Outlawguns N Roses (Mike Hennessy), the second choice in the mile, and Stash The Cookies (Brandon Campbell), the favourite, both left out of their post positions off the car, vying for the lead. Outlawguns N Roses was the first to the top and set the tempo, maintaining a 1-1/2-length lead through panels in :27.2, :57.1 and 1:25.2. Stash The Cookies tracked in her steps throughout the mile and the two found themselves in a duel down the stretch. Stash The Cookies posted the faster final quarter in :27.3, but Outlawguns N Roses had enough left in the tank to prevail by a head in 1:54.1. Outlaw Blue Isle (David Kelly) completed the top three.
