Round two of Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund action for three-year-old male pacers headlined the Monday program at Harrington Raceway with a trio of $20,000 second leg divisions being contested.
Night Terror ($2.20, Allan Davis) took the first division in 1:54.2, holding off a late charge by Cards A Flyin, who was second. Sweetest Swing was third. It was the sixth win in seven seasonal starts for Night Terror (sired by Badlands Hanover), who completed a sweep of his eliminations for trainer and co-owner Steve Leblanc.
Donna Messick and Jo Ann Looney-King's Delightinhisglory ($17.20, Ross Wolfenden) sprung an upset in the second division with a 1:55.1 triumph over heavily favoured Nottes Mist. Double Bags was third. Ajayi set a brisk pace early while Delightinhisglory tracked him down on the final turn and surged by before holding off the 1-9 favourite Nottes Mist, who rallied late. A son of Roddys Bags Again, the Jim King, Jr. trainee recorded his first win of the season.
The final split paired two elimination winners last week, Gaitway Guy and Bad Boy Too in the field of six. Bad Boy Too left hard from post six and set the fractions through three-quarters while Gaitway Guy mounted a first-over charge and wore down the leader in deep stretch to complete a sweep of his eliminations. Bad Boy Too held second with Badlands Casino third. Gaitway Guy ($2.40, Corey Callahan), owned by Gty Stable, notched his ninth career win for trainer Jeff Smith in 1:54.1. The son of Delmarvalous was undefeated at two in seven starts.
On the undercard, J&T Davis Stable's Advance Man ($5.20, Allan Davis) was a 1:53.1 winner in a $40,000 claiming pace for trainer Tyler Davis and scored his 10th win of the year.
Davis, Montrell Teague and Pat Berry each had three wins on the card.
