Sylvain Filion got away fourth from Post 8 with Intimidate, and he had him on the move in the backstretch. The Luc Blais trainee fired to the front and took the field to the half in :56.3 and then the three-quarter pole in 1:25.4. A :28-second closing quarter was enough to hold on for the 1:53.4 triumph over multiple O’Brien Award winner, Mister Herbie, who was making his 2014 debut. Taking home third prize was Mego Moss.
Determination of Westmount and breeder Judith Farrow of Hemmingford, Quebec share ownership on the five-year-old son of Justice Hall-Fabulous Tag. The 23-time winner, who is 2-for-5 this year, bumped his cash stash to $641,890 with the victory.
