The 'I Love Canadian Harness Racing Fan Club's NA Cup In-The-Money Handicapping Challenge wrapped up with a four-way tie, thanks to the superb efforts of Captaintreacherous in the 30th edition of the North America Cup this past Saturday at Mohawk Racetrack.
'The Captain' did not disappoint, as he paced to a thrilling 1:48.3 victory for driver Tim Tetrick in Canada’s richest harness race. Longshot Twilight Bonfire, rocked the tote board at 96-1 for second, and Wake Up Peter, the Captain’s stablemate, got up for show.
'In-The-Money players selected nine horses (three from each elimination), two trainers and two drivers competing in the NA Cup elims and finals and earned points based on finishing position.
After the eliminations there was a three-way tie for the lead, and another player came into that mix following the NA Cup final. The four players that tied for first finished with a total score of 102 points.
After the tie-breaking blind draw, Fred Burns of Glace Bay, Nova Scotia was declared the winner. Burns was able to garner 63 of the first 65 possible points to sit among the leaders after the eliminations and kept on rolling into the final, where he added another 39 points to his total.
The Fan Club would like to say thank-you to all its members that played, and it is looking forward to seeing your entries next month when the Fan Club launches its July handicapping contest, which will feature the Ontario Sires Stakes.
