In addition to offering live horse racing this coming weekend, Tioga Downs, Vernon Downs and the Meadowlands Racetrack will also be showcasing some other live dashes on their programs of live racing.
Vernon will host camel and ostrich races on Friday, June 21 after Race 4 and Race 8. First-race post time for Vernon's card is 6:45 p.m.
The ostriches and camels will be racing for charity on Saturday, June 22 at the Big M. The unique races will be held in between the scheduled live harness races. First-race post time for the card is 7:15 p.m. The winning charities will receive $1,000 courtesy of the Meadowlands Racetrack.
Tioga will play host to the ostrich and camel races on Sunday, June 23. First-race post time is 1:30 p.m. The ostrich race --- featuring Dixie Chick, Big Bird and Hen House Harry --- will take place after Race 4. The camels (My Lovely Humps, Humpty Dumpty, Lawrence Of Arabia and Pepi LePew) will take to the track after Race 8.
Last night, the Meadowlands held a camel and ostrich racing preview event with local sportscasters, including Steve Overmyer of CBS2 and Dyrol Joyner of PIX11.
