A seven-race slate of qualifying races went postward this morning at Mohawk Racetrack

.

In Race 1, seven-year-old Western Ideal gelding Gibraltar Hanover put in his first charted line of the season for trainer Travis Umphrey. With Rick Zeron at the controls, the bay posted a five and a half-length victory after taking the gate-to-wire route. The win time was 1:54.4.

Six-year-old Dream Vacation gelding Cool Touch came off the pace in Race 2 for trainer Scott West and driver Josh Marks. The $57,976 earner posted the three-quarter of a length win in 1:57.

Race 3 has been slated to house a 10-horse field, but only six ended up going postward. After seizing control of the lead along the backstretch, the Allan Heyman-trained and Mike Saftic-driven Lil Miss Nylation powered off to a three and three-quarter-length victory in 1:57.2. The three-year-old Apaches Fame filly hasn't raced pari-mutuelly since taking to the track in the final of the Silver Reign Pacing Series in March over Woodbine Racetrack.

After having been absent since a February 23 Open Trot at Woodbine, five-year-old Enjoy Lavec gelding Enny Youngman returned in Race 4. With Mario Baillargeon in tow for Ben Baillargeon, the bay went wire to wire from Post 6. The margin of victory was a neck. Enny Youngman came home with :27.4 final-quarter speed.

After making an early miscue his last time out, three-year-old CR Commando gelding Boss Commando hit the wire first in Race 5. Driver Jack Moiseyev was in the bike for trainer Ricky MacPhee. Boss Commando was a gate-to-wire winner by a quarter length in 1:59.4.

Three-year-old Western Hanover colt Nicholas C Hanover was much the best in Race 6 for trainer Tim Pinske and driver Sylvain Filion. Powering up in the final quarter, the bay paced away from the field, tossing up a seven-length victory in 1:53.1.

Sophomore Windsongs Legacy gelding Lightning Charger led at every call in Race 7 for trainer Terry Jackson and pilot Lyle MacArthur. The winning margin was one and a half lengths with a final time of 2:01.1. Parlay was also in the dash, but made multiple breaks and was pulled up.
