Warrawee Limelight Clicks Off The Claim

It didn’t take long for owner Stephen Klunowski to earn back some of the money he laid down to claim Warrawee Limelight thanks to her narrow tally in Tuesday’s $7,000 Fillies & Mares Preferred 3 at Georgian Downs.

Travis Henry slipped Warrawee Limelight into the two-hole right from the word “go” while One Last Bono muscled to the front and said “catch me if you can” through fractions of :28.2, :56.4 and 1:26.2. Warrawee Limelight outfought her front-stepping foe in the closing strides en route to notching the half-length score over One Last Bono in 1:56.3. Rubber Belly rallied from last and wound up taking home a third-place finish.

Sent off as the odds-on favourite in her debut off-the-claim for trainer Carmen Auciello, the seven-year-old daughter of Astreos-Scootin Ideal won for the second time this year – and for the 22nd time in her career – while lifting her bankroll to $284,565.
