Steroid Positives For Daley, Takter

Rulings recently released by the Pennsylvania Harness Racing Commission indicate that two trainers have recently received positive tests for trenbolone

, a steroid used to increase muscle growth and appetite.

According to the PHRC, Noel Daley received three positive tests in the month of April for trenbolone. The first came on April 3 at Pocono Downs with pacer Brokaw. The other two took place days apart at Harrah's Chester, with Trueys Legacy having a high level of trenbolone on April 15 and trotting mare Up Front Hotsey testing high on April 16.

The three positive tests result in loss of purses for those races ($22,000), fines totalling $4,000 and a 45-day suspension, starting on June 18 and running through to August 1. Daley has appealed the decisions on Trueys Legacy and Up Front Hotsey, but not Brokaw.

Ruling reports also indicate that Jimmy Takter received a positive test for trenbolone on Birdsong Hanover, making her lifetime debut in a stakes event at Pocono Downs on April 24. Takter received a $500 fine and also a loss of purse.

$500. is this for real. Talk about a slap on the wrist!!!
This is exactly why everyone is saying we need one commissioner for every jurisdiction.
Equalize punishment to all guilty parties...not because you are Jimmy Takter!!

$4000 fine for one and 45 days suspension. $500 fine for the other, same offence. What's wrong here. The ruling authorities just don't get it. Racings reputation suffers when trainers violate the trust placed in them and cheat. Suspend them for life! Betters leave the sport in droves every time these situations occur and little is done about it. You have to clean the sport up and regain the public's trust. The current method of dealing with offenders just isn't working.

legalize steroids and other medications that enhance performance. Compel trainers to submit full disclosure or face severe (not $500) penalties and put a pharmacolgy page in the program so bettors understand the benifits of the medication used and may bet accordingly. The demand side of the industry is withering away and integrity issues along with high takeouts are the main reasons for the decline.

how many more times can Daley have no shame?
LIFETIME BANS FOR BOTH WOULD BE NICE.
..or how about $500??? the sad sack state of harness racing justice continues.

jctoronto

I wonder if Takter can afford to pay the fine. $500, what a joke.

the bettors and fellow horsemen duped again what a shame penalties arent far stiffer!!
