Getting up in the final strides, Woodmere Skyroller put her nose on the line first in Thursday’s featured pace at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

Gilles Barrieau provided the winning steer aboard Woodmere Skyroller in an eventful $3,100 Fillies and Mares preferred pace for trainer Kevin MacLean and owner Reg MacPherson of Stratford stopping the clock in 1:54.4.

The action started with post 1 starter Filly Forty Seven (Driven by Jason Hughes) laying down the opening split of :27.2 before Ladylike (David Dowling) came first-over and was about the set down on the front in :56.4 before making a quick break in stride. Three-quarters were reached in 1:25.3 as Arc Light (Marc Campbell) took control of the front before being reeled and finishing third to winner Woodmere Skyroller in 1:54.4 with Ladylike recovering to finish second. Ladylike was subsequently placed third behind Arc Light for interference at the half-mile marker.

Hop Up prevailed in the $2,700 Open Trot for her fourth straight win for driver Corey MacPherson and owner-trainer Keith Campbell of Victoria West. The daughter of Tad The Stud controlled every step of the mile to win by over four-lengths in 1:58 over Cheeky Little Minx (Barrieau) and Windemeredontuworry (Brodie MacPhee).

Marc Campbell, Brodie MacPhee and Ken Murphy recorded driving doubles on the program.
