The Downs at Mohegan Sun Pocono held a qualifying session on Wednesday (June 17), and a trio of 'baby races' kicked off the docket. The fastest of the two-year-old winners was the American Ideal colt Mullinax. The youngster is out of Up Front Kellie Jo, who reached millionaire status in her career, and did it the hard way.

After having lined up in Post 3, Mullinax took a two-hole ride through the fractions (:30.1, 1:00.0, 1:29.1). He paced his back half in :58.1, which included a :28.4 final quarter, and got up for a half-length win in 1:58.3. Driver Tyler Buter was in the race bike for trainer Mark Ford and owner William Varney.

Buter recorded five driving wins during the session, as did George Napolitano Jr. Pupils from trainer Gilbert Garcia-Herrera's barn notched four wins during the session.
