Pacer Still Consistent At Age 12

Thus far in 2017, Dreamfair Van Dam has done two things on the racetrack: finish first or finish second. In Saturday's feature at Northside Downs, the 12-year-old gelding didn't finish second so the outcome could only be one thing.

After doing all the work last week to just get outmuscled late by Surrealist, Dreamfair Van Dam was in full out #beastmode for driver Gerard Kennedy in Saturday's $1,100 winners over pace. Using rail position to grab the early lead, Dreamfair Van Dam was on top by two lengths at the :29.4 first quarter and :59.4 half. Surrealist (Randy Getto) was challenging first-over but couldn't sustain that pressure. A seven-length lead for Dreamfair Van Dam at the 1:28.2 third station widened to eight at the head of the lane before Kennedy eased his charge across the line in 1:58.2, nearly six lengths better than Surrealist and Silverhilldiamond (Lawrence Snow)

Racing under lease to trainer Heather Hawkins, Dreamfair Van Dam has a 3-3-0 slate from six seasonal starts. The win, his 27th lifetime, pushed his career bankroll to $106,561.
