It's not that George Brennan hasn't already made quite the first impression at his second home, but...
Brennan, who's been visiting Yonkers Raceway during his Meadowlands' dark nights, won five races on Wednesday night's 12-race card.
Throw in his quartet of winners both Monday and Tuesday, and that gave Brennan 13 in the past three racing nights. He won his 6,000th career race at Yonkers last Tuesday night.
Among Brennan's quintet was Raiders Favorite ($4.50), who drilled her foes in the $8,000, fourth race pace. The five-year-old daughter of Keystone Raider, trained by Leah Vandervort for owner Chase Vandervort, won by 5-3/4 lengths in 1:55.4, matching her life's best.
Brennan's first winner of the evening was Lucky Angel ($4.70) in the $8,000, third race pace (1:56). He then won with Raiders Favorite in the fourth, Heather K ($3.10) in the $11,000, fifth race pace (1:56), Easy Feelin ($33.60) in the $14,000, seventh race pace (1:56) and Tasty Max ($3.30) in the $22,000, 10th race trot (1:56.3).
Yonkers Raceway is dutifully reminding one and all about a change to its live schedule, beginning with the race week of Monday, June 28.
That week, Thursday becomes the new Wednesday as far as live racing is concerned, meaning July 1 is the return of Thursday night racing (and evening simulcasting).
Please be advised that the current live schedule (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday) remains in effect through Saturday, June 26, with June 23 being the final live Wednesday (with evening simulcasting).
