Celebration of the 75th anniversary of the PEI Colt Stakes continues with the first event of the Matinee
racing program coming up on Saturday, June 20 in O'Leary.
The Globetrotter Goodwill Racing Series will visit six matinee tracks during the summer with a finals day at the CDPEC on the Sunday of Colt Stakes weekend in September.
The series is for two and three-year-old non-winners of a pari-mutuel race lifetime and has six divisions based on age, sex and gait. Points are awarded for the top finishers in the legs with the top point winners advancing to the finals. Double points are earned if the horse is driven by an amateur or young driver without a current pari-mutuel license.
All horses competing will receive prizes provided by the sponsors including the PEI Colt Stakes, Pedigree Matching Globetrotter, Shurgain Feeds and various individual race sponsors. Transportation allowances will also be available as noted on the website.
Entries for O'Leary should be called in to the track representative no later than Thursday evening to allow for the preparation of a program. The contact numbers are listed below.
