Three $20,000 divisions of the Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund first leg for sophomore pacing fillies were contested Monday at Harrington Raceway.
The fastest division was the third as The Wiz Kids Stable’s Jonigold ($2.40, Corey Callahan) registered a 1:54.1 triumph over Dover Downs champ Fashion Guru and Our Angel Hayleigh. The Headmaster-sired filly, Jonigold, never had an anxious moment in her open length, front-end win for trainer Bart Dalious. Dalious recently returned from Canada with his three-year-old filly Table Talk, who won an elimination of the Fan Hanover at Mohawk Raceway on June 7 before finishing sixth in the final on June 14.
Im Won Rum Wiser ($8.20, George Dennis), owned by George and Tina Dennis with The Wiz Kids Stable, recorded a wire-to-wire win over Seboomook Fool Yah and Treasure Valley in the first elimination in 1:54.2. Sired by Headmaster, Im Won Rum Wiser held a game first-over Seboomook Fool Yah safe at the wire for a narrow win. Trained by his Dennis, Im Won Rum Wiser recorded her seventh win in 14 career starts.
The final division was won by Jeff Bartels’ Crushed Again ($4, Victor Kirby) in 1:55.3. The Eli Scott-trainee sat behind pacesetter Megginspin throughout before surging by in the stretch for her first win of the year. Megginspin held second while Hens Playmate finished third. It was one of four driving wins on the program for Kirby, who had a five-win evening last week at Harrington.
Kirby recorded another win in the overnight feature with John Dayton’s Just A Jolt ($3.60) in the $17,000 Open Pace in 1:52.1. The four-year-old Village Jolt gelding and track record holder recorded his tenth win of the year after following live cover in People Are Crazy who collared pacesetter Shopping With Art past the three-quarter mark. People Are Crazy was a game second with Teresas Beach third. Trained by Jim King Jr., Just A Jolt has earned more than $114,000 in 2014.
