Freshman Kadabra colt The Game Plan, who is out of the same mare (Image Control) that produced two-time O'Brien Award winner Pure Ivory, recorded a victory in his first-ever qualifier during Mohawk Racetrack's
Thursday, June 16 session.
The first four races of the 10-dash card solely featured the juveniles. A trio of other two-year-olds recorded miles later in the session (Race 5, Whosurpapa; Race 6, Overcad; Race 7, Croupier).
The Game Plan (Kadabra--Image Control, by Balanced Image) kicked off the session for trainer John Kopas and driver Jack Moiseyev by coming from off the tempo to record a one and a quarter-length victory in 2:03.
Race 2 saw the filly Witch Way (Ken Warkentin--Chelemark Gizmo, by Balanced Image) trot to a half-length victory for driver Randy Waples and trainer Joe MacIsaac in 2:02.
In the session's third dash, driver James MacDonald and trainer Dan Lagace clicked with the filly Destiny's Magic (Kadabra--Gracious Glide, by Yankee Glide) who raced overland and trotted off to a two and three-quarter-length victory in 2:05.1.
Race 4 saw the Gregg McNair-trained and Doug McNair-driven filly Sturdy As A Hall (Angus Hall--Sturdy Lori, by Sturdy Sahbra) put in a gate-to-wire effort from Post 7 and record a two and a half-length margin of victory in 2:04.1.
The Ben Baillargeon-trained and Mario Baillargeon-driven Flashback recorded a half-length, 1:54.3 victory in Race 8. The win came over $917,359 earner Yursa Hanover, who was in rein to Luc Ouellette.
The duo of driver Jody Jamieson and trainer Colin Johnson clicked in Race 10 with Warrawee Koine, who posted a one and a half-length win over the Justin Currie-trained and Luc Ouellette-driven Mystic Maiden in 1:52.1.
