According to an article by The Herald Bulletin, if Hoosier Park doesn't receive some form of relief from a lofty licensing fee and tax rate, it could soon find itself in bankruptcy

.

According to the report, on Friday, June 12, Indiana Gaming Commission director Ernie Yelton stated that without relief bankruptcy would be imminent.

“There are 11 riverboat casinos in the state of Indiana, and they did not pay any license fee and they had a gaming tax rate of 20 per cent,” Hoosier Park general manager Jim Brown has been quoted as saying. “We paid $250 million, and our tax and fee rate as a percentage of our revenue is almost 50 per cent. We are seeking the ability to be on a more level playing field with our competitors in Indiana.”
