Three-year-old trotting colt Mr Ridgetaker rebounded from a break in his Goodtimes Trot elimination last week with a 1:55 career-best victory in Friday night's $50,000 consolation at Mohawk Racetrack.

Randy Waples sent slight second choice Mr Ridgetaker first over from fifth after the :27.1 opening quarter, which was posted by 44-1 longshot Ballykeel Ulysses (Sylvain Filion), and pursued new leader Good Sound Advice (Trevor Ritchie) through fractions of :57.4 and 1:27. The Paul Reid trainee wore down Good Sound Advice in the stretch with a :27.3 final frame to win by a length and quarter. Reckon Im Ready (Mike Vanderkemp) rallied home off second over cover to finish second and favourite Southwind Warsaw (Jody Jamieson) followed from third over to show after trailing the seven-horse field early on.

Mr Ridgetaker paid $5.90 to win for the second time in five seasonal starts.

The Tom Ridge-Miss Risktaker colt won three of 10 races at two, including the William Wellwood Memorial Consolation, and banked over $100,000 for owners Richard and Regina Beinhauer.
