McNair, Zeron Step Up For Sowerby

Trot Insider has learned that drivers Scott Zeron and Doug McNair are teaming up this weekend to help fellow driver Stuart Sowerby after he was recently injured in a training accident.

Zeron told Trot Insider that the two young teamsters will be donating 100 per cent of their purse earnings from their Saturday drives at Flamboro Downs to their ailing friend (the two of them are listed on a combined 11 horses).

"Stewart is a great guy and he had just returned from another injury not too long ago," Zeron explained. "We just really want to help him get through this tough time."

The Saturday card at Flamboro features two eliminations for the Ellamony Classic with McNair driving Rocklamation (9-5) for trainer Ron Burke in Race 4 and Swinging Beauty (7-2) for his father, Gregg, in Race 8. Zeron drew the rail in the eighth with the favoured Western Silk (6-5) for trainer Casie Coleman.
