Slots Cup Continues; Allard Perfect With Four

Georgian Downs played host the third leg of the Slots Cup during Tuesday’s 11-race program, with Larjon Barty and Cajon Thunder taking home top honours in their respective $12,000 divisions

Larjon Barty used off-the-pace tactics for driver Bruce Richardson to capture the first split in a career-best clocking of 1:53.2. The Larry Lane-trained four-year-old son of Tuxedo Charlie-Absolute Knockout used a :28.2 final frame to propel himself to the one-length score over Web Cam, with Every Day another 2-1/2 lengths in arrears.

The gelding, who is owned by Jonathan Lane of Kincardine, ON, has nabbed wins in three of his last four assignments. He has banked more than $18,000 this year and close to $60,000 to date.

Cajon Thunder extended his winning streak to four-in-a-row thanks to his career-best performance of 1:52.2 in the other division. J.R. Plante hustled the Bruce Goit trainee through intervals of :27.2, :56 and 1:24.4 before tacking on a :27.3 final frame for good measure. He had 3-1/2 lengths to spare over Warners Speedy Art, with Ciona Bromach taking home the show dough.

With the victory, the pacer improved his 2011 record to 5-1-3 in 14 starts while pushing his lifetime earnings to $108,279 for the partnership of JL Benson Stables Inc, Aaron Waxman and KDM Stables Corp.

Trainer Rene Allard joined forced with driver Anthony MacDonald to win with all four of the horses they raced as a team.

D Ly Cybele (1:55.2) got the ball rolling for that crew followed by scores with Rock N Barolo (1:53.4), LN Billy The Kid (1:54) and Did It Again (1:51).
