Starting from post position, Scorpion Moon was hustled to the early lead by driver Jim Morrill, Jr., who eventually relinquished the top spot to Grain Of Truth. Scorpion Moon stalked the leader throughout the mile before popping out in the lane and hauling down that foe and drawing clear to win by a length in 1:53.2. Dennis finished third.

The nine-year-old gelding from the Tracy Brainard barn sat in the pocket until the stretch, when he gunned by Grain Of Truth for the win by a length in 1:53:2. Dennis finished third.

Scorpion Moon, a nine-year-old son of Armbro Scorpion, picked up his seventh win of the season from just 16 trips postward. The Tracy Brainard pupil, who is now a 67-time winner, has banked more than $700,000 in his career.
