Schooner was ready for Inverness Raceway's season opener on Sunday as he dominated the top pacers with a wire-to-wire romp in the featured Winners Over event.

Driven by Alex MacQuarrie for local owner/trainer Anthony Beaton, Schooner blasted off the gate and built up an insurmountable 20-length lead by the third quarter pole (:29, :58.1, 1:28.1) before cruising home for the 2:00 victory. Future Million sprinted the fastest final quarter (:28.4) on the card to finish second and cut the winner's margin down to five and a half lengths by the wire. Imbadimnationwide trailed back in third.

Last year, Schooner won 14 of his 34 races, including his last three. The seven-year-old son of American Ideal now has 47 career wins and $134,014 in purse earnings.
