Horsemen Gerry Hudon celebrated his 2,000th career training win on Saturday when his homebred sophomore colt Hollywood Redneck went gate-to-wire in the third race at Century Downs Racetrack and Casino.

Leaving from the inside post position, Hollywood Redneck and Hudon took the lead and fought off challenger Royal Renegade (Rod Hennessy) en route to the 1:57.2 triumph. Post-time favourite Big Time Sunrise (Bill Tainsh Jr.) ran into traffic trouble in the backfield, but managed to come on for second-place, finishing one and a half lengths behind the winner. Withflyingcolours (Keith Clark) was third off the pocket trip.

The win was the third in six starts this year for Hollywood Redneck, who returned $11.20 to his backers. Hudon shares ownership of the chestnut son of Brandons Cowboy with co-breeder Bill Boden of Vancouver, British Columbia and their partner Donald McDougall of Calgary Alberta.

Hudon's stable has earned in excess of $12.6 million in purses throughout his career. The Sturgeon County, Alberta horseman also has 2,769 career wins and over $16 million in earnings as a driver.
