Kaboom! That was the toteboard at Buffalo Raceway on Sunday afternoon (June 14) as some gigantic prices were posted across the board in the eighth race.
Little Haus (David McNeight III) was sent off at 34-1 and managed to rally, nipping 99-1 shot Vicky Winner (Dennis Dylo) at the wire while Wild Ride (Michael Baumeister) finished third at 45-1. Little Haus returned $70.50, $14.20 and $30.40 for the win. Vicky Winner paid $28.80 and $69.50 while Wild Ride's show price was $30.80. The 2-8 exacta price was $2,268 for a deuce and the rarely seen 2-all-all trifecta returned $23.00 for a buck.
The big mutuals were due to the fact that 1-9 favourite Oceana broke stride just past the half-mile pole and finished seventh.
McNeight III and Drew Monti each had doubles on the 10-race card.
Racing resumes on Wednesday night at Buffalo Raceway with a 10-race card scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
