After a check of racing databases, it appears as though one of North America’s winningest reinsmen achieved a major milestone on Monday (June 11).
George Napolitano Jr., the all-time leading reinsman in the history of The Downs at Mohegan Sun Pocono, recorded his 9,000th career driving victory on Monday when he steered Myidealson N to a half-length victory at the Pennsylvania racecourse.
Napolitano became the 21st North American-based driver to get to 9,000 wins, and currently ranks No. 12 among active reinsmen.
Napolitano was the leading driver in North America in 2010 with 753 visits to the winner’s circle. He has won a mind-boggling 25 driving titles at Pocono and nine titles at Harrah’s Philadelphia.
Napolitano will have his entire family at the track this coming Saturday night, where he will join with them to be honoured in the winner's circle for the milestone triumph.
