The Racing Medication and Testing Consortium has added a member to its task force charged with reviewing information on glaucine and addressing the issue of recent positives for the substance.

Dr. Carolyn Cooper, director of the Canadian Pari-Mutuel Agency’s Equine Drug Control Program, will join the team of seven other expert veterinarians and laboratory directors from across North America. Dr. Cooper is an experienced regulatory veterinarian and oversees the CPMA’s Equine Research Facility, laboratory, and the collection/shipping and analytical contracted service providers.

“The CPMA’s laboratory has several glaucine findings,” said RMTC Executive Director Dr. Dionne Benson. “Dr. Cooper’s experience with this issue will be a valuable resource in our efforts to collect and examine information on glaucine and potentially conduct research toward the development of regulatory guidelines that address it properly. We welcome her involvement in this important scientific initiative.”
