Lawrence and Barbara Mayer’s Mob Boss was one of four $20,000 Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund three-year-old elimination winners at Harrington Raceway
on Sunday.
Mob Boss, an altered son of Don Boss Vita, sat in the pocket for driver Brad Brittingham most of the mile before surging by pacesetter Big Award in the stretch for the 2:02.4 decision. All Shoes on Deck closed for second, while Big Award held third. It was Mob Boss’ ($2.80) fourth win in six career starts.
Winbak Farm and Leblanc Racing’s Obey The Command (Tony Morgan) won the remaining colt division in 2:01.2 for trainer Steve Leblanc, which was one of three early non-wagering events.
The first filly division was won by Serendipity Stable’s Political Starlet (Ross Shand), who was a front-stepping victor in 2:01.3 over Tokyo Oklahoma and Now Virginia.
The final division went to Nanticoke Racing and Jim Morand’s Overnight Command (Morand), who set all the fractions in her decisive three-length score in 2:02.2. Second best was SBS Commando, with Montabello Brandi grabbing third prize.
The second leg of DSBF action for 3-year-old trotters will be contested Sunday June 19.
