Driver Trevor Henry could do no wrong on Monday at Grand River Raceway, and fans that backed him throughout the night could back up that statement by flashing their winnings.
Henry finished the card with six wins, and his impressive night at the office included a score in the $11,000 Preferred #2 with veteran pacer Acceptable Risk.
The nine-year-old son of Intrepid Seelster-Southernbound Lady was parked past the quarter pole in :27.1 before muscling his way to the lead for Henry. He tore through middle splits of :56.3 and 1:26.3 before using a :29-second kicker to win by a nose in 1:55.3. Stolen Car was a bang-up second, with third prize going to Button Up.
Dan Morrissey trains the 52-time winner, who upped his lifetime earnings to $741,633 in the process, for owners David Morrissey, Dan McCann and William Woodburn.
As for Henry, the victory capped off a dominant, six-win performance on the 12-race card. His others winners were War Boots (1:54.4), The Ladies Man (1:56.2), Sharelife (1:59.4), Sixty Degree Club (1:57.1) and Prime Time Poppa (1:58.1).
The career winner of 4,261 races has already racked up 196 wins this season and more than $1.2 million in purse earnings. His lifetime earnings exceed $27 million.
