Trainer John MacMillan was hopping on Thursday at Rideau Carleton Raceway with eight starters in-to-go, but four trips to victory lane made it all worthwhile
. Driver Ted McDonald was an accomplice in three of MacMillan's wins, and he clicked with one from his own stable to celebrate a four-win night of his own.
MacMillan, of Spencerville, ON, watched his 2009 UTR soar to .419 by the end of the evening while his yearly win total soared to 63. As for McDonald, he bumped his 2009 win total to 73 while his UDR climbed to .341.
Sandy Barbielegacy kicked off MacMillan’s big night at the office with a win in the lid lifter. The three-year-old son of Western Ideal did most of the road work en route to a 1:56.4 triumph for driver Ted McDonald. Gilles Gendron reined Troubleman to a winning effort in the fourth race to give the stable its second winner. The three-year-old son of Astreos rallied from just off the pace to win in 1:57.1.
One Quick One gave MacDonald the training hat trick thanks to his gate-to-wire score in the seventh race. Ted McDonald mapped out the winning trip for he four-year-old son of Ameripan Gigolo. The tandem of McDonald and MacDonald returned to the winner’s circle in Race 14 with All Over You, a four-year-old daughter of Dragon Again who wired up her foes in a time of 1:56.
