
Breakaway Racing and Yorwollohan Racing's Speed Away ($4.60, Corey Callahan) returned to Harrington Raceway a winner in the $24,658 Open Trot on Wednesday, June 11 in 1:55.4.
The seven-year-old Father Patrick-All The Time gelding had raced his prior two starts at Harrah's Philadelphia.
Swan Flyer, last week's winner, made the lead at the quarter-mile for driver Allan Davis from Vlahos (driven by Montrell Teague) in :28.3. The field remained mostly single file until the half-mile in :57.2 with the outer flow quickly developing. Every Day Dan (Pat Berry) and Speed Away gained sharply on the outside to three-quarters in 1:26.3 before Speed Away surged three-wide on the final turn to swoop by the leaders for his 11th win over the track in the past two years. Swan Flyer held second with Not For Moni third.
Trained by Nick Callahan, Speed Away has banked more than $67,000 seasonally in just eight starts following up a banner six-year-old season where he banked $201,330.
On the undercard, Sam Banks' Lizzy Lauxmont ($9.60, Callahan) won her second straight race in 1:56.2 in a $13,699 conditioned trot.
Ross Wolfenden had four wins on the card.
Callahan and Eddie Dennis each had driving doubles.
