This year has been full of unexpected twists and turns but Island harness racing has been twisting out more of the same as Marc Campbell, the dominant driver of the previous decade, just keeps on winning as he did Thursday evening at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

The Winsloe reinsman scooped up half the races on Thursday’s 10-dash card including delivering as the favourite in the featured Fillies and Mares Open pace aboard Arc Light from his own stable.

The stakes-graduating daughter of Camystic sat last in the $2,900 event while Much Adoo (Driven by Brodie MacPhee) set the tempo of :28.2 and :59.1. Berazzled (Mike McGuigan) then committed first-over with Arc Light taking the cover through the three-quarters of 1:28.1 before surging past in the stretch drive to complete the mile in 1:56.2. Berazzled was second with Miss Kabana (Vincent Poulton) third. Grayland Farm of Gulf Shore, NS, holds the ownership papers of Arc Light.

Campbell opened the card up with Ezra Express from his own stable in 1:59.1 then took a trio of catch driving scores with What A Babe in 2:00.2 for trainer Todd Walsh of Charlottetown, Scoot Out Of Here for trainer Vaughan Doyle in 2:00.1 and with Dueling Banjos in 2:01.4 for Jay Noye of Cornwall.

Theskysthelimit broke her maiden on the program in 2:00.3 from the Eddy Doucette stable and brought driver Corey MacPherson closer to a career milestone with win 991 of the 31-year-old Cornwall resident’s career.
