On Wednesday June 9, over 130 golfers hit the links at Woodlands to brave the wind and rain, and support local horseman Gerry Gaynor and his fight to overcome a brain tumor which was removed last November
.
The day on the course was the seventh annual edition of Clinton Raceway's yearly golf outing, and the turnout was unbelievable.
The participants, the volunteers who put the tournament together, the businesses and individuals that donated their time, money and prizes are to be highly commended for doing such a wonderful job. There was tremendous support from the Goderich community and the horseman who have known of, or worked with Gaynor at some point in his racing career.
All in all, the tournament helped to raise over $11,000 for the Gaynor family. The funds were raised not only through the golf portion of the day, but the silent auction, hole-in-one, hole sponsorships and the steak dinner.
The Gaynor family was on hand for the dinner-portion of the day's events, and Gerry graced us all with a few words of thanks.
