Meadows Record For Big And Little

Big And Little rebounded big time from last week’s miscue when he captured Monday’s $20,000 Preferred Trot at The Meadows in a track-record 1:52.4 — on a surface rated 'good.'

In his most recent start, Big And Little broke after a first-over move gained him the lead. On Monday, Brian Zendt didn’t wait for any backside mischief, sending the five-year-old SJs Caviar-Penn Peachi Lane gelding to the front at the quarter pole. He drew away from there, downing the first-over TSM Photo Bugger by 3-3/4 lengths, with No Doze third.

The mile was the fastest ever by an older gelding trotter at The Meadows, erasing the previous mark of 1:53.1 that Big And Little shared with Sir Caviar. Brian Zendt was aboard for all three of those record miles.

Bill Zendt trains Big And Little, who now boasts $220,380 in career earnings, for Gary Saul. Brett Miller and Dave Palone each drove three winners on the 15-race card.
