Im Drinkin Doubles ($7.50) closed from second over to win his season's debut in Truro Raceway's top class on Sunday afternoon.
Driven by Marc Whebby, the four-year-old Shadow Play gelding rallied home to nose out Watersides Kipper for the 2:02 win over the good track, with Bobs Ideal finishing third in the $1,375 feature race just ahead of the popular pacesetter Future Million.
Im Drinkin Doubles is trained by Emmons Ralph MacKay for owners R G McGroup Ltd. of Bathurst, N.B. and Wayne Eric Whebby of Dartmouth, N.S. The winning connections had a perfect day at the track going two-for-two together as their sophomore Shadow Play colt Shoe Shine ($17.40) also won his seasonal debut in 2:04.1.
George Rennison won all three races in which his stable had starters. His Sunday stars were City Girl Hanover ($6.50), Gwinning Gwen ($5.40) and Rambling Gambler ($7). The first two winners were driven by Paul Langille while Rennison steered Rambling Gambler.
