Elm Grove Future Perfect In Chappell Stakes

Five divisions of the Ruby Chappell Stakes for three-year-old pacing fillies are in the books after an action packed card of racing Wednesday night at Red Shores

Summerside.

Yankee Dancer, in line to Gilles Barrieau, captured the first division in 2:00.3 for trainer Margo Fisher and owner Garnet Taylor of Durham Bridge, N.B. while last year's Island Breeders runner-up Honey Do Jigtime was able to get up in deep stretch to take the second $5,500 event in 2:00 flat. Trainer Clare MacDonald did the driving for Morah Kerr of Greenfield and Phonsie MacEachern of Port Hood, N.S.

The third division of the Ruby Chappell went to Thought Of for trainer-driver Earl Smith in 2:01.2. Don Ling of Charlottetown owns the daughter of Ponder, who recorded her second win in a row.

Moon Landing, who enjoyed a pocket trip behind last year's Island Breeders champion Acton Normal, won the fourth presentation in 1:59.4 for Barrieau. Pat Eastwood of Saint John, N.B. owns and trains.

Elm Grove Future and Gary Chappell cruised to victory in the final division of the Ruby Chappell in 1:59.2. The Wayne Bell trainee is perfect with three wins in her early career. The Largo filly is owned by Boyd MacDonald Produce Ltd. of Crapaud and Daniel Ross of Belfast, P.E.I.

Allamerican Wow, with Alex Sobey driving, won the Carl Murphy Memorial in 2:01.3. The veteran pacer recorded his 32nd lifetime win for trainer Carl Sobey and owners Jeff Ferrish of Summerside and Noel Cousins of Richmond, P.E.I.
