Update On Cyril MacDonald

Cyril 'Toby' MacDonald, a veteran Maritime harness racing driver injured in a spill at Truro Raceway yesterday afternoon, has been released from hospital, but has a date for possible facial reconstruction this week

.

MacDonald suffered facial injuries, including injury to his sinus bone.
Diane Daniels of Truro Raceway says the 55-year-old driver/trainer was knocked unconscious when he was thrown from the sulky in Race 6 when his pacer, Doctor Mal, fell just past the three-quarters pole.

Dave Carey, driving S T Camie, was unseated when his horse got tangled up in the mishap.

MacDonald was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Halifax, where he was treated and later released.

MacDonald, a native of Prince Edward Island now living in Brookside, near Truro, has 869 career wins and $729,734 in earnings as a driver. His son, John, who drives at Rideau Carleton Raceway, has 132 wins this year, ranking seventh in the Canadian dash-win derby.
