Financial Glider has returned to the racetrack in good order after her first foal was sold last fall

.

On the Wednesday evening, May 9 program at The Isle Casino Racing Pompano Park, Mickey McNichol was in the bike to find the winning trip for Financial Glider in 1:58 in a mid-level conditioned trotting event for a $5,500 purse. The eight-year-old by Yankee Glide from the Sir Taurus mare Financial Paige is being trained from the Kim and Jay Sears Stable for owner Fishman Stables of Fort Pierce, Florida.

Prior to the win on the mid-week card, Financial Glider made two starts on the comeback trail following a March 31 qualifier at Pompano. She'd been away from the rigors of racing since July 17, 2008 at Harrah's Philadelphia. The graduate of the New York Sires Stakes program is now an eight-time winner from 41 career starts with purse earnings of more than $98,000. Her first foal, Dinero Fishman (by Donato Hanover), sold at last November's Harrisburg Sale for $27,000. She was also bred in 2010 and 2011 to Muscle Hill.

'Canon' Fires In Weekly Top Trot

The remarkable hot streak in the bike for driver Dan Clements continued unabated on the May 9 program at Pompano as he engineered a trio of wins in the weekly top trotting events at the South Florida venue. In the $8,500 purse Isle Mile 1 Open Handicap Trot, Clements had L M Canon in just the right position to gun down the tempo-setting Whosgoinwhosstayin, with Wally Hennessey in tow, in 1:56. Salome Marvel, driven by Richie Simard, was third.

Jean Beaulieu is the trainer of L M Canon and shares ownership with Marc Gelinas of Lac A La Tortue, Que. The win was the fourth in 16 trips this year for the eight-year-old mare by Peddler Yorktowne-Y L Pileouface and it increased her career bankroll to more than $134,000.

Clements also had the winning touch in a $6,500 purse conditioned trot with Famous Hall and in a $4,500 purse conditioned trotting event using field sweeping tactics with Nearly Uncle.

Because of 55-1 longshot Journey West brought in by reinsman Joe Sanzeri in the eighth race, which resulted in a superfecta payout of more than $35,000, there's a Pick 4 carryover of $2,202 into the Saturday evening, May 12 program.

The current schedule of live racing every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday continues through May with post time at 7:05 p.m. Eastern.
