Big Handle For Derby Day

This past weekend's running of the Kentucky Derby attracted $165.2 million in all-sources wagering on the card and set an attendance record at Churchill Downs.

Citing information released from Churchill, The Daily Racing Form has reported that wagering for the 2011 edition of 'The Derby' was up 1.5 per cent over 2010, when $162.7 million was wagered.

Churchill stated that attendance for Derby Day was 164,858. The previous record had been 163,628 back in 1974.
