Front-End Philly Win For Lazurus

Lazurus – the trotter, not the imported pacer – recorded a wire-to-wire, 1:55.3 win in Harrah’s Philadelphia’s $12,500 trotting feature on Wednesday (May 8).

Tim Tetrick is currently second in the drivers’ standings both at Philly – he had five wins on Wednesday – and in North America. Tetrick guided Lazurus, who is a Credit Winner gelding, to the lead before the :28.2 quarter. Tetrick was then able to regulate the tempo (:57.4, 1:26.3) before sprinting clear. Lazurus’ lifetime bankroll now sits at $303,656 for trainer Scott DiDomenico and the ownership of Dana Parham and the Triple D Stables Inc.

No single ticket solved the Jackpot Hi-5 bet during the card, thus the carryover heading into Thursday’s card is $20,514.09.

Pennsylvania-sired three-year-old trotting fillies will be gathering at Philly this Friday for the first time in 2019, as four divisions of sire stakes and five Stallion Series splits will be on tap. On Sunday, a full field of nine has been attracted to a $30,000 Great Northeast Open Series event for the open pacers. Donttellmeagain, Tiger Thompson N and Scott Rocks are among the scheduled starters for the GNOS dash.
