New Brunswick invader Miss Oromocto made her trip to Nova Scotia worthwhile on Sunday (May 8) as she pulled off the upset victory in Truro Raceway's top class.

Just like his mount, driver Mark Haig was making his seasonal debut and had Miss Oromocto lined up in third-place behind Gerries Beach and race leader Barona Lilac with Little Orphan Cam pursuing first over before they closed in the stretch to score the 1:59.1 victory. The four-year-old Driven To Win mare paid $18.40 to win as the second-longest shot on the board in the $1,475 Winners Over pacing feature.

Melville Land trains Miss Oromocto for New Brunswick owners Stephen Land of Hopewell Cape and Sharon Burchill of Oromocto.
