On Tuesday, May 7 it was announced that William Hill, the largest bookmaker in Britain, reached a deal with New Jersey thoroughbred raceway Monmouth Racetrack which will see the William Hill name be incorporated into the raceway's premier event.

A report by John Brennan in The Bergen Record explains that the $1 million Haskell will now be known as the William Hill Haskell Invitational.

The long-term deal will see William Hill become Monmouth's exclusive sports wagering provider when and if the practice is legalized in the state.

Brennan's article has quoted Joe Asher, the U.S. chief executive of the William Hill, as saying, “One day, sports betting will be legal in New Jersey -- and when it is, William Hill will be there.”
