Gearing up for the upcoming World Driving Championship, Trevor Henry put on driving clinic at Western Fair Raceway on Wednesday winning seven of the evening's 12 races.
Henry swept the early Daily Double with the Andrew McCabe-trained Billy White Sell ($2.70) and roan sophomore Kinmundys Stryker ($2.90), conditioned by Fred Schaeffer. He also won the fifth race with Kendal Gucci ($7.20) for trainer Dennis Jewitt. Preferred 3 Trot winner Talbotcreek Jewely ($5.50), trained by Mike Bishop, won the seventh race in 1:58.3 and kicked off three consecutive victories for the Arthur, Ont. reinsman. Paul Mairs trainee Tips Girl ($3.80) and sophomore Ima Nuisance ($15.50), another McCabe pupil, completed the natural hat trick. Henry later closed out the card with one final victory aboard Richard Moreau trainee Perfect Vacation, who cruised to a 1:59.3 victory in the Preferred 2.
Henry holds a commanding lead in the Western Fair driver standings having earned 143 of his 149 seasonal wins at the London oval. He is currently Canada's leading driver for win percentage (0.395) and sits second on the national leaderboard for wins behind Billy Davis Jr.
Standardbred Canada announced earlier today that Henry, Canada’s representative for the 2013 WDC, will be presented with his official Canadian driving colours and helmet on Friday, May 24 at Western Fair. The 20-heat World Driving Championship Tour runs from Sunday, June 9 to Saturday, June 15.
