A serious game of “catch me if you can” was played by P L Conjure in Tuesday’s $15,000 Preferred Trot at Georgian Downs, and when it was all said and done the gelding drew away from the competition

in an impressive clocking of 1:54.

Trainer/driver Roger Mayotte pointed P L Conjure to immediate command from Post 6, and together they lead through intervals of :27.4, :56.3 and 1:24.1 before using a :29.4 final frame to seal the deal by 1-3/4 lengths over a rallying Here Comes Numbers. Third prize in the eight-horse affair was earned by Slip Into Glide, who was sent off as the 7-5 favourite.

Overlooked by many at odds of 13-1, the six-year-old son of Kadabra-Avie Hanover stepped to his second consecutive score for partners Stephen Moss of Philadelphia, PA and Helane & Harold Solomon of Westbury, NY. The victory was the fourth of the season in 10 attempts for the 19-time winner. The lion’s share of Tuesday’s purse lifted his lifetime earnings to $227,332.

A number of sophomores shipped to Georgian Downs on Tuesday to prep for the upcoming Upper Canada Cup eliminations, which will be held at the five-eighths oval on Saturday, May 19 with the $600,000 (guaranteed) final on Saturday, May 26.

Giddy Up Cam captured a $9,500 conditioned assignment in 1:53.3 for the tandem of driver Anthony MacDonald and trainer Joey Shea. The son of Camluck-OGs Starlett, who is owned by David Shea of Campbellville, ON, enjoyed a pocket trip behind fractions of :27.2, :56.4 and 1:24.3 before uncorking a :28.4 final frame en route to the half-length triumph over fellow UCC preppers – Aviator Seelster and Hidden Potential.

Michaels Power, a 65-1 shot in Trot Magazine's 2012 Pepsi North America Cup Spring Book, powered to the lead shortly past the mid-way point and just kept on trucking to win in his 2012 debut for driver Scott Zeron and trainer Casie Coleman. The son of Camluck-Michelles Jackpot, who went 2-for-3 last season, halted the teletimer in 1:51.4 for owner Jeffrey Snyder of New York, NY.
