SS Superstar returned to Saratoga Raceway winner's circle on Tuesday, May 6 when the Larry Stalbaum-trained and driven four-year-old parlayed her pocket ride to victory in the $22,222 Fillies & Mares Open Handicap Pace.

SS Superstar won five consecutive races at the Spa this spring before a two-race stint at Yonkers Raceway, which included another victory. In Tuesday's feature, the rising star out of the Stalbaum stable left hard from the outside post seven to get the two-hole trip behind leader Iron Mistress (Jimmy Devaux). Iron Mistress, who was the runner-up in her Saratoga Mares Open debut last week,
carved out fractions of :27.2, :57.3 and 1:26.3. SS Superstar found open road in the passing lane in the stretch and motored home to prevail in 1:55.2 over a track rated sloppy. Iron Mistress was a runner-up for the second straight week while Alittlesidehustl N (Billy Dobson) came on to finish third, just a half-length back.

SS Superstar, who is owned by Shark Racing Stable of Bainbridge, New York, paid $4.50 to win as the 6-5 betting favourite. Her eight victories this year account for half of her career win count. From 13 starts this year, she has earned more than $80,000.
