Clinton Raceway announced on Wednesday, May 7 that the start of its 2025 harness racing season will be delayed due to the grandstand renovations.

The Clinton, Ont. track's 15-race date meet, which was originally scheduled to open on Sunday, May 18 and continue with racing on Sunday afternoons until the end of August, is now expected to begin on Sunday, June 1 and extend into September.

On Wednesday afternoon, Clinton Raceway applied to the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) to amend its racing season by cancelling the race dates on Sunday, May 18 and Sunday, May 25 and adding race dates on Sunday, Sept. 7 and Sunday, Sept. 14 to the schedule.

“Until today, we were confident that we would receive partial occupancy to use the building; however, after further inspections, it is not achievable,” said Ian Fleming, General Manager at Clinton Raceway. “We are confident we will be ready to race on Sunday, June 1, 2025.”

Clinton Raceway apologizes for any inconvenience the delay may have caused.
