Trainer Tracy Brainard has a trailer full of pacing colts to bring to Friday's $54,700 final of the Ontario Sired Spring Series, and all three have produced impressive results

so far.

The star of the show is Oscar Oscar, a son of Western Terror who relocated to Brainard’s barn in late March and immediately turned heads with a crushing six-and-a-half length victory in the $20,000 second leg of the Youthful Pacing Series at Woodbine Racetrack.

He repeated the feat a week later in the $56,200 final of the Youthful Pacing Series, and went on to capture the first leg of the Ontario Sired Spring Series on April 24, sealing the deal with a :26.1 closing panel.

With the second leg of the OSSS on May 1 not having filled, Oscar Oscar has had a week’s breather, and should be fresh and keen going into Friday night’s $54,700 final. A win will extend his unbeaten streak to six.

Brainard’s two other entries are no slouches, either.

Blue Suede Shoes, by Grinfromeartoear, was third in the Youthful consolation final on April 10, and won his division of the OSSS opener on April 24 by a head over Midnite Romp, in a new lifetime clocking of 1:51.

And Power Off, another Western Terror offspring, was third in the Youthful final to Oscar Oscar and went on to take the place position in the OSSS opener to his stablemate.

All three are owned by the Bulletproof Enterprises of Boca Raton, Florida, as is the fourth colt in the combined entry, Ala Carte Bill, who is trained by Wayne Preszcator. Together, they’re rated at the shortest odds possible, 1-9 in the field of six.

“I think all eyes will be on Oscar Oscar on Friday night,” Brainard says, “and they should be. So far, he’s the standout – but Blue Suede Shoes and Power Off have been coming into their own as well. Blue Suede Shoes is still green, but he showed what he can do in the opener, and Power off is a very nice colt who has a great attitude and does everything right.”

The $54,700 final of the Ontario Sired Spring Series for three-year-old pacing colts is the first race on Friday night’s card at Mohawk. Post time is 7:30 p.m.
