A deep field of seven three-year-olds will take to the track in the Rideau Carleton Raceway’s second race on Thursday (May 8), and as was the case last Sunday, Daily Double players will have to go deep thanks to the evenly-matched group.
Brussebeach will be looking for his third consecutive victory and will start from the rail. The son of Little Brown Jug winner Shadow Play showed his tactical versatility in his last two victories and lowered his lifetime mark in his win last week when he stopped the clock in 1:57.3.
Brussebeach is owned by Ginette Seguin. Gerald Lamarche does the training and Stephane Poullot will drive once again on Thursday.
Sonicpedia has drawn an improved Post 2 for Thursday's encounter. Sonicpeida (Artistic Fella– Salsa Hanover) stalled in his attempt to run down Brussebeach last Thursday and finished third. Sonicpedia belongs to the ownership group of Jacqueline Dinelle, Robert Robinson, Steven Bray and Shawn Camp. Robinson trains the gelding and Clarke Steacy will drive on Thursday.
Ernie N Pat will try and turn the tables on Brussebeach on Thursday. Last week’s runner-up wasn’t content to sit the pocket behind Brussebeach past a :27.2 quarter. It was the horse – not the driver, Jacques Beaudoin – who insisted on taking the front, which proved to be costly. Ernie N Pat is another son of Artistic Fella and is owned by Gaetan Guidnon, Micheline Guindon and Gerard Demers. He is trained by Regent Guindon.
Real Bigg (PP3) looms as a big threat in the race. A winner of his sophomore debut, the Gary McDonald trainee by Mister Big–Real Girl has drawn better for the Thursday tilt for owners The Three Gees Stable. Ted McDonald will drive.
