Parked the opening three-eighths, RT Sun Poco refused to tire as she blew away a talented field in a career-best 1:53.4 in Monday’s $22,500 Filly & Mare Preferred Handicap Trot at The Meadows.

Looped by a pair of horses from the gate, RT Sun Poco persevered for Aaron Merriman, finally clearing to the lead after a demanding :27.2 first quarter. She steadily opened up thereafter and downed Paulette Revere by 6-1/2 lengths. Don’t Blink rallied for show.

Robert Rougeaux III trains RT Sun Poco, a seven-year-old daughter of Yankee Paco-Sunfest who now boasts $217,396 in career earnings, for Brocious Racing Stable.

Merriman drove four winners on the 15-race card while Brett Miller fashioned a triple.
